The school team used the "powerful questions" generated by our IR network to focus their planning for the next steps in improvement.
Stage teams decided on an action area. They all explored the "Big Ideas in Number" and discussed what implications these might have for teaching. Key concepts were linked to the new syllabus documents. Students were assessed; there were ongoing professional conversations, and a website platform was used to support classroom practice through the collection and sharing of resources. |
Student understanding on the Interview for Student Reasoning (IfSR) was used as baseline data and to focus planning. PL inquiry groups (PODS) provided time for teachers to collaboratively deepen their implementation of Number Talks, including anticipating and addressing possible misunderstandings. Regular teacher reflection using the Compass Points scaffold was used to guide the next directions in PL. A greater focus on formative assessment and data literacy were seen as the next priority.
