The two-day instructional round is only the start of the learning journey our schools undertake. During the round, the participants from the host school (and other participants) gain a deeper understanding of the focus area, the Problem of Practice (PoP). Professional readings, discussions and collaborative learning give clarity to the key elements essential for effective classroom practice of the PoP.
Classroom observational data collated by the network give the school a rich picture of the teaching and learning that characterises the host school's classrooms. This "street data" is fine-grained and unambiguous, and points to specific directions for improvement. The network also compiles of list of suggestions as to what the next steps could be.
These resources give the host school a valuable starting point in its learning journey and concrete strategies that could be undertaken. After the round concludes another learning journey starts as the school sets about leading change. On this page there are links (through the images) to the learning journeys of our schools. There is much to learn from them in the ways they've gone about leading change.

Oakhill Drive PS 2023: "Are our mathematics lessons worthwhile?" ODPS decided on a sustained, narrow and deep focus on Number Talks as the vehicle for change. Check out the use of ongoing data to inform progress; the professional learning tailored to the needs of their staff; and the use of parent workshops to include the whole school community.

Berowra PS 2022: "Are we developing students' conceptual development in number?" BPS focused its next steps on the "Big Ideas in Number". Their journey highlights the involvement of all staff in the analysis of the rounds data; the use of "powerful questions" to generate inquiry and action; and the use of Number Talks as a vehicle to develop students' numerical understandings and to address misunderstandings. Thoughtful and innovative structures to engage all staff enabled their change process.

John Purchase PS 2020: This webpage summarises the learning journey of JPPS with the Moss and Brookhart "Worthwhile Lesson" model. Extended and deep implementation of this model resulted in staff across the school collaboratively developing learning trajectories to ensure that teaching was focused on the continual development of important curriculum outcomes. The "Collaborative Guide for the Worthwhile Lesson" was used for reflection and feedback. Detailed examples illustrate the school's journey.
