A WORD OF WARNING: Both Dylan Wiliam and John Hattie caution that these strategies should not be used routinely and unthinkingly. Dylan Wiliam tells us, "Everything works in somewhere and nothing works everywhere." John Hattie, in 2023, cautions, "We need to stop just looking at the strategies teachers are using, and instead look more closely at the impact we have on students and how they learn best." fWHAT IS IT THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE?: It's the teacher that makes the difference, and, in particular, Hattie argues that teacher mindsets make a difference. Here is the pre-reading from our 2023 round at Thornleigh West PS. THE PRESENTATION: This round encouraged network members, when deciding on content and pedagogy, to use an "intentional alignment model" which focuses on what the impact of teaching is intended to be.
